You know the time when someone tells you, your not good enough or worse compare you to your siblings, it just makes your blood boil and all you need is a chance to prove them wrong and when you do that the satisfactory feeling you get is as good as earning your first salary, because you know you overcomed all the odds in your path. In the school days, all my primary life went in being shy little girl who used to get bully and at times struggled for her own lunch. The moment I realised that I needed to stand up for myself and stop being pathetic is when I decided that I am no longer going to be that shy little girl and going to enjoy every second of my secondary school life. The time when I entered my secondary school, everybody knew me because of my brother and again I became the shadow of him following him everywhere. He was the talented and studious types but at the same time pain for all the teachers for his michievousness and back answering straight to the point but he was scholar so that was neglected, I on the other hand was just a average student and had long way to find myself. Living under a shadow was getting on my nerve, my 5 standard class teacher showed faith in me and asked me whether I would like to be in student council, I had to take it because I wanted nothing but to stand for myself and I said yes, slowly with the help of my teacher I build up my confidence and started participating in everything, by everything I literally mean everything. I used to dance, sing, play sports, interschool competition and hell ya I also used to write notes on blackboards. There were times when my higher council position was in jeopardy due to my brother’s image but till than I was so confident and had developed my self esteem that turning back was not an option for me and I enjoyed every bit of attention and importance I got but more than that I got an identity of my own to top it all the popular one. That time I decided that whenever somebody will try to pull me down, I will make that as my source of encouragement and work harder to prove them wrong. Again the struggle of, I can’t stand and get elect for the post of vice captain, I thought ok because I knew schools tend to have a little bias opinions towards electing the students for the post but also the girl who was my friend and everybody taught was going to be the vice captain because she was good at sports and got championship trophies. But I knew that I was the better candidate because I do everything that school provides and the position needed leadership qualities which I knew I had.
We the popular students always had this conversation coming up about the superior positions in school and always had a clear image of the people who are going to be elected in the top counsell and knowing that I am not going to be the part of it was very much unsettling that I needed a fair chance to prove myself because i knew I deserved to be and also because I have always worked upon it. To my luck during our selections, first time ever there was an actual selection process with Writing, interviews, group discussions and final interview. I knew I had only one competition and I was ready to have a healthy competition. The experience that I got out of it was so beautiful and learning that I came to know more about myself. It opened my eyes to the thought that no matter what people say, believe in yourself and work upon it and success will surely knock on your door. I tackled all the stages of competition and got to be the vice captain and captain and left the school with no regrets or empty wishes and ofcourse my own identity.
Walking through the front door, happy that I got a promotion. The first thing I did is searched throughout the house to find her, kept calling her and was waiting for her reply, I came across her picture and reality came crashing in. She made me be used to her, provided me the luxury of home, now it’s just an empty house ; without her warmth. The mornings are lazy because she is not the one providing me with bed tea. I keep my room still a mess hoping that she walks through the door and comes yelling at me and yet be the one cleaning the chaos. She used to read me like an open book and kept all of my secrets like her own. She became my shield from my father’s wrath and saved extra cookies from my brother’s ward just because I liked them the most. Took me to long drives during my low moments and always thought me how to fly. People say I m just like her but trust me I am not even close to the foot nail of her. Now my nights are cold because she is not around to tuck me in. Now there is good news without happiness and bad news without her long drives. She took that away with her leaving me with my broken self. Now I realized all the things I could have done for her and in all the ways I could have made it easy for her, now it haunts me that I was not able to treat her the way she deserved. I took her for granted, I should have been more caring towards her. Now I cry and cry until my tears are dried, but she is not around to take me for long drives. Never take your Mother for granted because she gives her all for our happiness. This MOTHER’s Day and every other day treat her like the way she deserves to be served. Love your Mother because without her your no one. HAPPY MOTHER’s DAY.
I am a common man surrounded by many creatures, creatures that promise me with stuffs I am most vulnerable at. This creatures are so smart to target us at our weak points and get benefits out of it. But this time we are prepared, we have worked on our insecurities and weak points and definitely have become more smarter and wiser to select the creature who is more suitable not only for us but for the nation. Now we are not blinded with the fake promises. Since the elections have already started, the efforts and slurping from the political parties are on higher ranges. The advertisements, the slogans, the rallies and everything is going on full force. But the point is, in all this fuss, what I really wonder is, are they really concerned about the people of our country. All the deals of promising people for the betterment and letting the other party members down is what we have been hearing for ages. We common people become the apple of their eye. We suddenly are the most important thing in their life and certainly their first priority. We get surrounded by signs of political parties, asked about our worries and if by natural circumstances we lose somebody we are offered minimum money as compensation. We are never gonna run out of debate about whom, why, who to vote. But is this the reason not to vote, is this the way our generation is going to help build our nation? Rather than sitting home and debating on the political issues, why not go out and vote as a responsible citizen. It’s lot easy to judge and blame but lot harder to put a step forward for the betterment. Enough with the silence and ignorance because vote is not just our right but it is also our power. If you don’t vote, someone else’s vote will count. Don’t choose because of the appearance or because you know the person, make yourself aware of the situations and choose someone wisely because your vote counts.
Every thing has its merits and demerits, but it totally depends on us how we tackle our flaws and make them our usb. Always listen to your Consciousness. Consciousness is something that comes handy when we are trying to do something we have never done before or when we lack the knowledge about it. So what we need to do to avoid our self insecurity peeking through us and leaving a negative impression outside.
Here are certain things you need to work on.
Embrace your flaws and insecurities
Make sure you gain as much knowledge as you can.
Personality is the major factor that impacts your first impression. Get cleaned up well and keep yourself as stiff and straight with proper professionalism as you can.
Know what you’re speaking of. If you don’t know something say that you don’t know it, rather than saying something that you will regret it.
Always keep your mind open to learn from your mistakes.
If you don’t have enough knowledge about the things you are doing make sure you tell the person to postpone it or explain them your concern rather than making a fool out of you. Speak in the language in which you are comfortable in.
In terms of activities make sure you practice it thoroughly before actually doing it.
Walk is very important when it comes to personality, how you walk is something people notice, if you are not comfortable in heels don’t walk in them because your knees give away the comfort of your heels. Like if you can walk in heels with straight legs than baby you completely slay it but if you aren’t comfortable in those heels your knees eventually bend at certain extent and give away your discomfort. Plus it hurts like hell.
So guys that’s it, remember those things and work on it. If you don’t do it well the first time always remember you’ve got the second time. Don’t repeat your mistakes but do embrace your flaws proudly and make them your strength.
‘Dream’, small word but holds greater meaning. Many dreams are achieved a day and many are hidden and shut in a tiny closet. Dreams gives identity to an individual, it gives the courage to explore and happiness to conquer. Some are encouraged and some are burned. Now a days there’s so much pressure on parents in order to be the best, to choose the best for their children that they neglect the needs of them. Sometimes children don’t follow their dreams because maybe revenue from that is not well paid off. But dreaming is just the starting point in the process of success. Dream, passion and hard work walks hand in hand. If you show the courage to dream the passion will definitely developed over time and the hard work you put in achieving it will definitely pay off well. Know yourself and your inner voice and not what people are expecting of you because if you are unhappy, no amount of hardwork is going to satisfy them or you. It will just be waste of time and energy but most of all disappointment and regret. I saw this amazing promo of the just launched series on Netflix which had a dialogue which made me write this blog. “It’s not your dream, if the voice inside your head is not yours”. This sentence itself describes the life of majority teenagers trying to live there dream or figuring out themselves before living another. The Netflix show is called as, ,’Selection Day’, which is based on a novel by, ‘Aravind Adiga’. It’s about two teen cricket prodigies struggle against their overbearing father and a system stacked against them to realize their own ambitions and identities..
So go ahead and show the courage to dream and fulfill it. Happy weekend.🙂
Always have a vision towards things but don’t expect that your visions and views will be similar with other people. Every individual is different, so it’s obvious that their mind sets are going to differ. You might see a glass half empty but the other person might see the glass half full. Nobody is wrong in this case, it is just that you see the empty side of the society and the person sees the bright side of the society. Before passing any comment or accusing somebody for it always try and put efforts to know the views of the person too. Having your own opinion gives you the ability to make your own way rather than blending it according to others. Be able to decide for yourself. Live according to your terms and conditions. Have faith that you can choose better for you than anybody else can. Be your own hero. It’s important, infact it is mandatory to have an opinion, it makes your vision clear. It helps you to understand your subject better which in return leads to better understanding and conclusion. It’s your perspective that makes you different from others. So have one!
